Beale Defendants  Sentenced to Community Service

David and Jan Hartsough, Shirley Osgood, Janie Kesselman, and Sharon Delgado were sentenced on September 9 to 10 hours each of community service at their sentencing hearing on September 9.  In their statements before sentencing each of the defendants testified about their motivations for taking nonviolent direct action at Beale.  The judge said that there would be no point in putting them in prison or fining them, and affirmed that they had engaged in "civil disobedience" and were motivated by "strongly held religious and ethical beliefs."  (To read the defendants statements go to http://sharondelgado.org/category/drones-2/.)

To find out about the monthly anti-drone vigils at Beale, go to Occupy Beale AFB  The next one will be November 25 and 26.

The Altar Show

November 6-16

Nevada County Fairgrounds

Earth Justice Ministries will work with Radical Art for These Times (RAFTT) to create an altar in memory of children who have died from U.S. drone attacks.  We will use the panels that we have displayed at rallies, created by local people.

Earth Justice Ministries Board Member Don Baldwin will also create an altar in honor of bees, highlighting the importance of saving them.  As creatures of God, they are intrinsically valuable, and reflect the wisdom and grace of God.  As pollinators, they are also absolutely necessary to humans, other animals and plants, and to the whole interconnected web of life.
